Wasn't there a huge turnover in the writing staff between seasons seven and eight? That would explain why the storyline feels spotty and rushed. The new staff probably wanted to deal with the fall-out from season seven as quickly as possible so they could get on with their own ideas. I can't blame them, but the storyline suffers in the process. Yes there was a big turnover in writing staff after season 7. Some of the best writers left.Picking up on this quite late - but I've heard this said a lot and never actually understood why it happened. Wss there some kind of palace coup or what?

Enjoying a Frasier Season 10 Paramount Comedy marathon here in the UK today. From the wedding on. Love the way Niles voice cracks the first time he says his vows to Daphne. The heart episodes really get to me. Find the bit when Daphne breaks down in the hospital pretty hard to watch, it rings so true for anyone who's been through that situation. As is usual with the later seasons I find myself enjoying most of these a lot more that I expected to.

I can imagine how much more difficult it is if you've lived through something similar. I find season 8 hit and miss, but I agree that the later episodes are better than their reputations.

Watched 'The Doctor Is Out' this morning, which for some reason I never thought was exceptionally good - but now I do. Particularly loved Martin's "I'm not even curious about coffee!" line.

'Crock Tales' AKA The many ages of Niles. Love how DHP's acting gets more uptight the further back in time they go.

Had to get in the holiday mood while I was decorating my little tree, so I watched "Perspectives on Christmas." Great idea for an episode, and it was superbly executed. I like how all the threads came together and, oh, I want a massage.

I like how all the threads came together and, oh, I want a massage. Watched this the other day too. Great episode! Beautifully put together. Massage sounds good! The following has become one of our family quotes: No, I'm afraid with three of us doing it, it might look stupid.
