Oh,Chy, I didn't mean to seem snippy in my answer. It was meant to be just the opposite. Sorry about that. It's a perfectly valid question. For me I guess it wasn't really shocking. It seems like I have crushes on many gay men Oh, it's okay! I thought he was straight and I had a big crush on him, and I still do. *Squee.* I wouldv'e never guessed he was gay, but it doesn't matter that he is. Just like any other gay human being out there. He loves the person he loves, and nothing is going to stop him! I was just so surprised because I always had this picture and millions of pictures come in my head of me and him kissing. ^_^ Sorry. He's so precious, he's a man I would want in my life. He's perfect. (Nothings perfect, but still!) Oh David!~¢¾¢Ü♫¢¾ Oops, my hearts and music notes kinda messed up at the end of "Oh David!~" Sorry about that. I guess the site doesn't allow Character Map.

I had had a DHP crush for about two days when I IMDBed him and saw threads speculating he was gay, which seemed to make sense. So for me there was never a big revelation. I think you'd be hard-pressed to find an IMDb profile that doesn't have at least one of those threads! For me, I can't recall a time when I didn't know D was gay. It was always just a given.

It surprised me, but only because I had never thought about it before. I hadn't thought about him much in a while, then it was everywhere that he was out. It had positively no effect on my opinion of him, but, like, 2/3s of my friends are gay, lesbian or bisexual, so there'd be a big problem if it did.
As for the speculation thing, until the person says something themselves or makes it really obvious (think Lindsay Lohan) I pay no heed to rumors about someone's sexuality. This is in part because just about every famous actor has been the subject of such rumors, and partly, I guess, because I got beaten up pretty bad for being a "lesbian" once because of rumors. It wasn't fun. I don't want to be party to anything like that happening to someone else, whether they are gay/lesbian/bisexual or not. On the other hand, it made more active in the LGBT community and a bigger gay rights activist, so it wasn't an entirely negative experience.

I'm really sorry to hear that you got beaten up...I've got similar experiences myself. But it's great that it made you a bigger gay rights activist. That's fantastic!

I'm terribly sorry to hear what happened to you, both. It's just horrible that people can be so nasty! Well done for supporting gay rights! The very best of luck to both of you!

I'm really sorry to hear that you got beaten up...I've got similar experiences myself. But it's great that it made you a bigger gay rights activist. That's fantastic! Sorry to hear about that, too. It wasn't as bad as for me it sounds, I think. At the time I played water polo (which is a violent sport, for those who don't know), so I couldn't tell which bruises were from where. I was very tough back then. What bothered me so much was the reason why and the words they used at the time. It was the first time that had ever heard someone use them that way in real life. I was already a member of my school's GSA, so it wasn't like I was totally new to gay rights, either. It just strengthened my reasoning behind it and made me more active. Until that point I thought that sort of thing only happened in small rural and southern towns, where (I believed at the time) it was a lost cause, anyway. This was in sunny, "I'm too cool or stoned to care" L.A. But I do hope you can see why I pay no attention to speculations of someone's sexuality. It's rude, anyway.

Well,I got beaten up several times in secondary school...just because I have different interests and stuff like that and because I like to learn...and ,I've told that story before,my girlfriend and I had to split up when her parents found out we were a couple! They just couldn'taccept it and after a while my girlfriend couldn't stand the hiding and lying anymore and I had to let her go.

Isn't it crazy that people have to hide things like this? It baffles me that some people can be so closed-minded. I hope we're moving towards becoming a society that accepts people for who they are.
