Well, the title says it all....what movies do you really want to see David in?
I'll kick off by saying one I've mentioned elsewhere before - I want him to play the psychopath in a remake of Strangers on a Train. He'd play it very differently from the original, because he's a very different physical type, but I think he'd be hypnotic in it, and today of course they could be much more overt with the homo-erotic theme that was barely hinted at in the original.
What do you guys think?

Lester Burnham in American Beauty, Verbal Kint in The Usual Suspects. There's a mix of vulnerability, humour and creepiness in those roles that D could really have fun with. I love the Spacester, but I think D is a less icy presence.

Kind of better than Spacey in a way, because he'd have that sense of vulnerability and 'niceness.'

And of course he should have played young Truman Capote when he was young. He was the spit.

As I mentioned in another thread, I really want to hear David play the piano more. How about a role as a concert pianist? The first thing that came to mind was an adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's The Unconsoled. Ishiguro's difficult to put onscreen, but it can be done, and done well (see Remains of the Day).

He absolutely has to do this. Someone call his agent! Who would be the ideal director?

A year ago, I would have suggested Anthony Minghella; I still can't believe he died. What about Ang Lee? David seems comfortable with Mike Nichols, who also directed the excellent Wit, Primary Colors, and Angels in America, to name a few, so I'm sure he could handle it. Nota Bene: I guess you can tell from this post that I'm a huge Emma Thompson fan. The more I think about this, the more I like the idea. It's been years since I've read the novel, but David does fit the image I have of Ryder. I'm going to have to read it again!

Ooh I would love this to happen!

Who's gonna call these people and suggest this. Can't believe Anthony Minghella's gone either. It's like Heath Ledger.
