I agree that English food is sent up for a laugh on 'Frasier' and it does get a bit annoying. Calling bovril 'rancid meat paste' is just plain unkind! But what about the reference to 'blood pudding'. I would never use that phrase - it is and always will be 'black pudding'. Do Americans not understand 'black pudding'?

What a lovely discussion this is I've never really eaten real English food except for the bacon and eggs and scrambled eggs. Dutch 'cuisine' is pretty good too but pretty much all the same... Everything is mashed here in Holland. Don't really care for german food. My uncle is german and i ate there a few times but it's not for me. Now Italian food on the other hand........ mmmmmmmmmmm pizza! Lasagne and spaghetti is really good! I pretty much live on fastfood; pizza, mcdonalds, pizza (American and Italian) and microwave meals. I must say.... I'm still alive! The Chinese food in Holland is pretty good too. But do keep in mind that Chinese food is different all over the world. They just make it more our taste cause the real Chinese food is very different then what we get on our plates here in Holland. And about the jokes in Frasier about English food; It's pretty much the same as the jokes people make about the Frensh and the Canadians i think. We Dutch people make jokes about the Germans and the Belgians all the time but we don't really mean it. Don't stress yourself out on those kind of jokes. Just think about all the lovely and tasty food... mmmmmmm pizzaaaaaa! Ow and don't forget...... mmmmmm donuts!

Black pudding, rashers and proper sausages are some of the foods I miss most in the US. Sometimes only a fry will do.

Which, for obvious reasons, does not sound very appealing. So what the heck is it anyway?

But black pudding is smoky and salty and has a lovely crumbly texture. Nom.

Hi being a proud Scott's I have to stand up to black pudding and most fried foods like sausages, Bacon unfortunately I cant eat eggs so thats out the question.Though the insulting thing is that our foods our fine and well Its not our country that started the whole disgusting fast food places like MC Donald's and Burger king, which is like rubber in a bun that created the child obesity. And how can anyone not love beans on toast its filling and bloody delicious with Hp sauce so, also Britain has had for long time had the respectful Sunday dinner of roast beef and vegetables and then of course the Scott's had Haggis and well its a apart of our culture and its damn better then what they have got. However it isn't just the food that they make fun off its our Queen though again not big on the royal family it should be respected just out of respect. I also say for other foods Italian,Chinese and French cuisine also do it for me.
