Looky here! David and Michael have developed a new show, The Michael Feinstein and David Hyde Pierce Holiday Show (original, eh?), which they will be performing throughout December at Loews Regency nightclub in New York. Tickets are from $110. More deets as we hear them! Seems like David's doing a lot of vocal/musical work recently, between the Cole Porter evening at Ravinia, the Michael Gilboe CD, the upcoming Broadway Close Up performance, the Active Theatre Company gala, and now these Feinstein collaborations. Can a DHP album be far behind? ;D

Some more details on the Feinstein & Pierce Holiday Show over at Playbill.com. Michael says: "The rough theme is the Gentiles meet the Jews at Christmastime. David is so waspy, and I’m culturally so Jewish, and we’re going to explore the differences between our two backgrounds—and the inherent humor therein. Hopefully."

Broadway World had a few more deets today: Their debut collaboration will feature holiday favorites and standards by composers such as Cole Porter ("You're The Top"), Noël Coward ("Together With Music") and Marc Shaiman and Alan & Marilyn Bergman ("The Best Of Friends"). Feinstein's longtime Musical Director John Oddo will lead the all-star quintet.

Found a snippet this blog, In the Wings: I was all over the place yesterday. Started with David Hyde Pierce on the Upper West Side, talking about his upcoming show at the Paramount with Michael Feinstein. Turns out they’re L.A. neighbors. They’ll play the Paramount Nov. 28 and then head to Feinstein’s NYC club for the entire month of December. Hyde Pierce is a classically trained pianist who says he was “very good for a small town,” but soon realized, when he got to Yale, that another career was in order. He could not have been more generous with his time. What a great guy. I’ll chat with Feinstein—the man who introduced me to the Gershwins—next week. I'm looking forward to the full interview!

Looks like the guys are trying their show out-of-town first - the Holiday Show will hit the Paramount Centre for the Arts in Peeksville, NY on Saturday 28 November. CLICKGrammy-nominated and multi-platinum recording artist Michael Feinstein is the Director of Popular Song Series at Jazz at Lincoln Center and widely regarded as the Ambassador of the American Songbook. David Hyde Pierce is best known as Niles Crane from TV's Frasier but also has made quite a name for himself as Robin - and others - in Broadway's Spamalot, "A Wonderful Life and Curtains for which he won a Tony Award in 2007.
Comedy, music and theater collide as they give us the Premiere East Coast Performance of their collaboration in an evening of stories and songs for the first time at the Paramount in Peekskill! I think I might try see this show in Peekskill rather than NYC. It's a lot cheaper. And I get to take a fun train ride!

Aww, too bad I'll miss that one. I have to go see Godspell with one of my teacher's aides. I'm hoping I go to the December ones though!
